A lurker from the S/W UK
Hello one and all. :) I found myself here by kind courtesy of BoneSkakers and their links page. I just cant keep from drooling over those Flyrite machines 8) ... I digress  OK, in way of introduction I guess I should give a little of my vitae... I hail from mid Cornwall, 52 and married with 2 grown up offspring, Jr who is 21, at home and into custom cars, Our daughter who is 19, does NOT live at home, and has just made us grandparents for the first time!! Lordy lordy...  From an early age was exposed to motorcycle's, with my father rebuilding his first Vincent when i was about 9-10? ... Needles to say, as soon as i was legally able, I bought my own bike. Whilst in the merchant, frantically saved and bought a Vincent comet off my father <500cc>, attached a monza sidecar and soon passed my -*test*-('"). If you have never driven a motorbike and sidecar, it's quite a unique experience and although enjoyable, and certainly holds memories, wouldn't rush to drive one again  .. Goes without saying, the same day I passed my -*test*-('"), other than taking the L plates off, I set about getting the chair off and setting up for solo. Was in a position to purchase a 'white' shadow engine from my dad, fitted said engine into comet frame, or should i say attached the frame members to the 1000cc plant. Other than the Vincent, also had the pleasure of owning a BSA lightning, TriBSA special, an AJS, a kwaker 650 x4 and a Laverda . In 79 I bought my first 'new' bike, this after many years of the associated hassles & anxiety of ole brit steel  Bike I went for was a Harley FXS , I *think* it was one of the first 80" er's imported into the UK, but would not put money on it . As is the way of things, all that fun had a price, met what was to be my second wife, a child on the way, hardship beckoned, so painfully, Harley had to go.. Now the offspring are on their own feet, kind of got to thinking I'd like to get another Harley ... hence lurkin around.. Would/will warmly welcome any advice, tips, directions on acquiring another cycle , been of the scene and out of the saddle for far to many years    Anyway's, max salutations & felicitations to you all here on the forum. atvvb Bill Addendum: I guess you should class me as a wannabe, certainly at this moment in time...ain't got no bike, ain't got no life...   oh the shame of it all

how do fella welcome over - that there is a thorough intro isnt it.... bet you wished youd kept the vincent now dont you!!!! well as they say better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all...

Thank you for the most kind welcome guys Would love to visit sometime Benny truly would, in view of those awesome machines I think it would be more of a pilgrimage than just a visit 8) , only trouble would be having to leave ... At the moment im in fiscal limbo, waiting for the results of a protracted and ongoing issue, once that's resolved, I should know better what my options are... sorry for being cryptic... The option of building a project myself has sadly passed.. not only would there be the satisfaction of 'knowing' my ride, but the beauty of spreading the costs. I no longer have the garage or tool facilities and physically 'challenged'. Being in heavy industry has fucked my joints, and since then have acquired 2 gimpy legs  ... yep, my son thinks it's laughable getting a bike again, but am determined to get and ride a Harley again before i leave this mortal coil  ... perhaps I've crossed the boundary from eccentric to 'nut's Fraid I do prattle on Sumo  , comes from spending too much time in front of a computer... I DO need to get a life  . I gotta hold my hands up and say I 'cheated' a tad .. much of the above I copied from a post I had already done on another forum and lazy  > Do I wish? jeeez do i Sumo... for many years after selling my Harley I had nightmares, I'd dream I still had my lowrider or dad had his vincent then wake up in confusion into cold oppressive reality... not pleasant :? ... never, never, get rid of you ride guys.. it is truly hell, i don't say that lightly.. :!: all the very best Bill
