Mikuni question
Just pulled the carbs off the GS750 motor, other than a good clean anybody tell me what i need to do/common problems etc., only worked on SU's and Solex before, don't know much (anything) 'bout Mikunis. Cheers JGG

They have a lot of very small drillings. If they're old they can bung up. The best way I found to clean these was to build my own ultrasound cleaning bath - namely 1 metal tub, one quantity of carb cleaner, one secondhand TENS machine (for bad backs and stuff). Strap the machine to the tub, fill with cleaner, plonk in your carbs and switch on full power for about 3 hours. You'd be amazed at the crap that comes out. Blow out with compressed air. Check e-bay for the machines - they're only about £30 from Boots new. Also with CV's the diaphragms can split and you can get the usual perished rubber parts - a rebuild kit should contain all of these - try http://www.allensperformance.co.uk/ The throttle spindles can wear too but this is a mucho expensive fix. More likely to happen on SUs than Mikunis thankfully. Cheers Johnny
