Thanks Sumo and Tom , that`s kind of what I thought , welding melts the two bits together whereas brazing joins them by sticking to them . Reason I ask , is `cos I started stripping all the paint and moulding off my subframe today , to check the welds and so I can sort out a mount for the oil tank . Once it got down to bare metal , I could see that all the joins on the whole thing are obviously bronze or brazed , though , it`s not like on my stock frontloop , where the tubes are pushed into cast lugs , then brazed . I`m was going to get Pete from Chops and Bobbers to weld up some holes that a previous owner drilled in it anyway , so I`ll get him to check it over. I would like to get into doing brazing though , I`ve got a shitty old Arc welder , it`ll do the job , but it always looks shit plus if what you`re welding isn`t quite thick , it melts it away or blows a hole in it. I fancy making an oil tank , but it`s not worth paying a lot of money for a good welder , given the amount of welding I do. EDIT Stuck some pics in my photobucket ,
